Tessellations

M.C Escher was the first artist ever to use tessellations for art. Here is an example of his work.
A tessellation is a pattern that forms a picture and repeats itself. An example is a picture to your right Creating tessellations is really easy. All you do is fold square paper into four sections. Next you draw lines on one of the four divided sections. Then you just trace the lines onto another section with a light box on top so you can see the lines. one half of your paper should be filled with lines now. You then just trace the other half by folding it on top of the line filled half. After that you just take another piece of paper and you start to trace by putting it on top of one piece of paper. Finally assemble the pieces together The only downside is, it is really boring. Well at least I learned to do tessellations and that when I trace I just follow the line quickly and not look at my pen. The element of art I was doing was symmetry. One way of helping me in the future from creating this piece of art is designing a floor or designing a shirt. I think for me I like my end product since now it looks really nice and I was pretty surprised at the picture that was formed after I assembled all of my tesselations together. Now whenever I create another tessellation I can observe what the end product might look like. One of the problems I have faced creating this project was that I was tracing to slowly so Ms. Bammi told me to trace fast just following the line. Well thats all. Signing of.
